Fairfield, CT - Freshman Jen Russell (Seymour, CT) has been named the Akadema/Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for the week of April 28-May 4. This is the second time Russell has been named the league's top rookie and the fifth weekly award for the SHU pitcher this year.

Russell captures her award of the season after earning her team-high 14th win of the season in the Pioneers' 2-1 victory over Stony Brook. The Seymour, CT native struck out five while scattering four hits in seven innings of work. Russell went the distance in all nine of her starts against league opponents this season, holding NEC batters to a .230 average. Russell sports a 1.56 ERA against conference foes, finishing the year with 44 strikeouts, while issuing just six walks.

The Pioneers wrapped up their season with 23 wins, a Division I School Record.
