FAIRFIELD, Conn. (February 14, 2008) - The Sacred Heart men's and women's golf programs announced their upcoming schedules for the 2008 spring season. The men will open play on March 8th in Puerto Rico while the women open on March 30th at Georgetown University.

The SHU men will open the spring playing in the Palmas Del Mar at the Puerto Rico Flamboyan Course from March 8th through 11th. From there the Pioneers return to Connecticut and will play in the Yale Spring Opener on the Yale University Golf Course. The event is scheduled for two rounds on April 5th and 6th. In the fall, the Pioneers took 11th in the 26 team fiel of the Yale MacDonald Cup.

The Pioneers will be defending their New England Championship on the weekend of April 11th through 13th at the Triggs Memorial Golf Course in Providence, Rhode Island. SHU won the rain shortened event last season with a five-stroke lead over Central Connecticut and Yale. The Pioneers shot a one-round score of 296.

The final tune-up before the conference championship will be the URI Northeast College Invitational on April 24th and 25th. The 36-hole event will be held at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, RI. This year's NEC Championship will be held at the Hershey Links in Hershey, Pennsylvania on the weekend of May 2nd through 4th to wrap up the season.

The SHU women's spring opener is set for March 30th through April 1st at the Georgetown Hoya Invitational. The event will play out over 54-holes and take place at The Memebers Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Maryland.

From there, the Pioneers will play in two more events before heading to Florida for the NEC Championship. The weekend of April 10th through 12th has Sacred Heart heading to the Hampshire Coutnry Club in Mamaroneck, NY for the 54-hole Columbia Roar-EE Invitational.

Sacred Heart will stay in state for the Central Connecticut Spring Invitational on April 18th through 20th. The event will consist of two rounds at the Stanley Golf Course. From there, the Pioneers head off to Dade City, Florida for the conference championship. The event is scheduled for April 25th through 27th at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
