The Sacred Heart Pioneers battled their way back from a 14-point halftime deficit to take a three-point lead midway through the second half but couldn't complete the comeback as the Monmouth Hawks came away with a 75-70 win in the opening round of the 2008 Northeast Conference Tournament at Long Island University Saturday night. BasketballPioneers Garner Northeast Conference Post Season HonorsSacred Heart freshman Alisa Apo was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year while junior teammates Kaitlin Sowinski and Stephanie Ryan earned All-NEC honors announced at the 2008 NEC Tournament banquet Friday night at Long Island University.
