FAIRFIELD, Conn. (October 2, 2007) - Sacred Heart cross country runners Dana Troy (Lebanon, CT) and John Kenworthy (Gloversville, NJ) earned this week's Northeast Conference weekly cross country awards. Troy was named both the NEC Athlete and Rookie of the Week while Kenworthy earned the men's Athlete of the Week honor.
Troy wins both awards after leading the Pioneers to their fourth consecutive title at Fairfield's Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational. The Lebanon, CT native's first place finish, with a time of 19:28.17, marks the first win in her career, in just her third collegiate race.
Kenworthy earns NEC Athlete of the Week honors after a second place finish at Fairfield's Victor F. Leeber, S.J. Invitational. His time of 27:19.80 was just two seconds behind the individual winner. The Gloversville, NJ native helped the Pioneer men to their second straight title at the meet.
