Sacred Heart took the lead heading into the final day of the 2008 NEC Men's Golf Championships after carding an NEC 36-hole championship record total of 577 through the first two rounds of competition. Four Pioneers posted under-par rounds to help SHU set the conference's 18-hole championship mark with a second round score of 280.

Sacred Heart sophomore Adam Petrasovic (Tecumseh, Ontario), last season's NEC Rookie of the Year, and Long Island freshman Rocky Co sit tied for first following the second round of play after carding rounds of 68 and 70, respectively. Petrasovic's second round 68 is tied for the second on the league's 18-hole championship performance list, while the duo's two-day total of 140 stands tied for second on the NEC's 36-hole chart.

Junior Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) matched his one-under from Friday and sits tied for fouth overall with a two-day score of 142. Senior Tommy Campbell (Wall, NJ) took seven strokes off his Friday score, carding a two-under 70 during Saturday's round. Campbell sits tied for 13th overall.

Junior Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) did Campbell one better, knocking off eight strokes from Friday to shoot 71 during the second round. He is sitting tied for 19th overall. Junior Kevin Lauretti (Newington, CT) rounds out the SHU five with a 77 for a two-day total of 154.

Robert Morris finished the day in second with a 589 (295-294), while Central Connecticut State (293-300) and Monmouth (304-289) tied for third with a two-round score of 593.
 

 

The final round is slated for Sunday, May 4 at the Hershey Links beginning at 7:45 am.
