Sacred Heart juniors Patrick Fillian (Tinton Falls, NJ) and Matt Belizze (North Salem, NY) finished tied for 10th and 18th respectively at the Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate tournament in Puerto Rico. The Pioneers finished 10th as a team at the event, the 2008 spring opener for the team.

SHU shot 916 as a team at the three-round event held earlier this week at The Flamboyan Huaracoa. The field of 13 teams fielded 82 golfers with the University of Virginia taking the title with a team score of 857.

Fillian shot 218 (71-73-74) during the three round event. He fired a one under on his first 18 holes at the par 72, 6,771 yard course. Belizze finished tied for 18th shooting 222 (73-80-69) while his final round 69 tied for the second lowest score on the final day of the event.

The Pioneers spring slate will pick up again on April 5th at the Yale Spring Opener at the Yale University Golf Course.
